    In South Dakota, the electrical license requires 16 hours of continuing education by every even year to renew your license. Eight (8) hours may be online training.     The following classroom training courses are approved by the South Dakota Electrical Commision to fulfill your 16 hours of classroom training requirements: NFPA 70, National Electrical Code (NEC) (2017) Essentials 3-day Classroom Training (21 hours or 2.1 CEUs) and NFPA 70E, Electrical Safety in the Workplace (2018) 2-day Classroom Training (14 hours or 14 CEUs).

    Agency:

    The South Dakota Electrical Commission requires sixteen (16) hours of continuing education (every even year) to renew your license. Eight (8) hours must be code-related. The remaining eight (8) hours may be non-code. You may only attend one 8-hour online class during the current renewal period.
