  • Description

Beginning December 10th this class will be taught using the 2021 Edition of NFPA 99, Health Care Facilities Code.

Increase your understanding and ability to apply requirements for providing a safe environment in health care facilities with interactive and engaging classroom training based on NFPA 99.

In the ever-evolving health care industry, patient procedures are performed in an increasingly wide variety of locations. This two-day classroom training uses NFPA 99, Health Care Facilities Code, to offer instruction in developing and implementing a risk assessment using an approach where it is the risk posed to patients and staff, not building type, that defines safety requirements. This training also includes instruction on ways to analyze the risks and apply NFPA 99 based on the results of the assessment.

Attendees will have the opportunity to receive instruction directly from health care authorities and code experts who use interactive, hands-on exercises and activities to give you a working knowledge of some of the most current requirements of NFPA 99, including allowances for the latest technologies. You get in-depth guidance in conducting risk-based analysis as well as information about installations, inspections, testing, maintenance, and safe practices you can immediately put to use in your job.

Upon completion, you should be able to:

    • Identify the four risk categories for health care facilities.
    • Describe the various types of risk assessment techniques.
    • Identify specific criteria for all categories of gas and vacuum systems.
    • Differentiate between storage requirements for the three different ranges of volumes for gas cylinder and container storage.
    • Identify the components of a good emergency plan and a good security management plan.
    • Correctly apply requirements that consider operating rooms wet locations unless a risk assessment of the area determines otherwise.
    • Identify requirements for normal electrical systems and essential electrical systems.
    • Explain the three categories of IT and communications systems for health care facilities.

Get the training you need to help keep patients and staff safe and help ensure health care facilities are compliant with NFPA 99.
