  • Description

    NFPA 434: Code for the Storage of Pesticides gives general requirements for the storage of pesticides. It applies to:

    • Restricted use pesticides, which are required by the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), 40 CFR, Part 152.175, to bear the human signal word "Danger"
    • Those restricted-use pesticides, which when evaluated against NFPA 704: Standard System for the Identification of the Hazards of Materials for Emergency Response, (Health Hazard Warning Determination), are determined to be rated as "3" or "4."

    The general storage requirements covered in NFPA 434 include:

    • Building material arrangement and location
    • Building construction
    • Spill control and drainage
    • Housekeeping
    • Ventilation
    • Control of ignition sources

    Additionally, NFPA 434 gives requirements for hazard management and employee training. (Approx. 14 pp., 2002)
