    This is the first of three important courses in the NFPA NFPA 3000 (PS): Active Shooter/Hostile Event Response; Plan, Respond, Recover Program Specialist Online Training Through this two-hour online training, you'll improve your understanding about how to create an effective active shooter/hostile event response plan.

    Upon completion of this course you should be able to do the following:

    • List common issues from active shooter/hostile events documented in after-action reports
    • Identify how the four main concepts of NFPA 3000™ (PS) address common issues from past events
    • Identify the sections of NFPA 3000™ (PS) that will guide the creation of an effective active shooter/hostile events response program
    • Understand the importance of risk assessment for active shooter/hostile events
    • Identify threats to a community/facility based on target assessment
    • Determine the risk probability of a community/facility
    • Determine the risk consequence rating of a community/facility
    • Use a risk probability and consequences matrix to distribute and prioritize resources
    • Identify the program components to create a plan
    • Indicate required program resources and capabilities
    • Identify standard operating guidelines (SOGs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to include as part of the program
    • Develop and determine the completeness of SOPs and SOGs
