  • Description

NFPA® is offering a high-impact training program based on the fundamental code requirements for liquefied petroleum gas and the safer handling of flammable and combustible liquids.

Recently, there have been numerous catastrophic incidents related to the handling of flammable and combustible liquids and liquefied petroleum gas (LP-gas). Many of the incidents could have been avoided by following the code requirements of NFPA 30, Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code, and NFPA 58, Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code. This classroom training provides essential knowledge of the applicable codes to mitigate the risks in storing, transporting, and handling ignitable materials.

This five-day program is led by NFPA experts and covers the basics of NFPA 30, Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code, 2021 edition, and NFPA 58, Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code, 2020 edition requirements. Students will receive insight into the underlying dangers of ignitable liquids and LP-gas and how to reference the codes and standards to identify requirements for managing associated risks.

Take advantage of NFPA classroom training in Saudi Arabia from the source that helps write the codes.

Safe Handling of Flammable and Combustible Liquids (NFPA 30, 2021) and Liquid Petroleum Gas (NFPA 58, 2020), Classroom Training – Saudi Arabia is a must-have for drivers, maintenance personnel, facilities managers, inspectors, and anyone else who would benefit from instruction in the safer handling of ignitable liquids and LP-gas. This course is intended to empower workers and authorities having jurisdiction to mitigate risks and minimize incidents of fires, explosions, and related hazards.

Our skilled instructors will reference real-life examples and use photos and illustrations to explain concepts and procedures. The training also includes engaging activities to help with the retention of learning objectives.

Safe Handling of Flammable and Combustible Liquids (NFPA 30, 2021) and Liquid Petroleum Gas (NFPA 58, 2020), Classroom Training – Saudi Arabia is fully updated to reflect the latest code editions and industry knowledge.

Learning safer handling practices can help reduce potentially life-threatening incidents such as tanker truck transportation accidents, vapor cloud ignition of unprotected vehicles, and electrical ignition risks. This NFPA training program is packed with information and instruction on how to help workers define, identify, and locate the appropriate requirements of the codes in the following training.

NFPA 30 (2021) Module – This part of the course focuses on the fundamental safeguards for the storage and use of ignitable liquids. Participants will be instructed in the basics of the code, including navigation, classifications, container storage, procedures, and safer practices.

Upon completion you should be able to:

    • Define flammable and combustible liquids.
    • Assign the proper NFPA Classification to example liquids.
    • Define hazard analysis and list at least three elements included in a hazard engineering evaluation.
    • List at least three common ignition sources.
    • List four control measures to minimize ignitions from hot work.
    • Identify which type of containers are approved for storage of Class I, Class II, and Class IIIA liquids.
    • Locate specific containerized liquids/warehousing requirements in NFPA 30.
    • Determine how a Class I liquid can be transferred or dispensed.
    • Identify appropriate tank design standards.
    • Apply siting requirements to locate aboveground storage tanks (ASTs)

NFPA 58 (2020) Module – Receive an introduction to the code including definitions and how to navigate its contents. The NFPA 58 module discusses requirements as they relate to equipment, system installation, transfer and storage, and transportation. Additional coverage includes provisions for distribution facilities, engine fuel systems, refrigerated containers, marine shipping and receiving, and operations and maintenance.

Upon completion you should be able to:

    • Identify and apply NFPA 58 requirements as they relate to:
    • Equipment
    • System installation
    • Transfer and storage
    • Transportation
    • Distribution facilities
    • Engine fuel systems
    • Refrigerated containers
    • Marine shipping and receiving
    • Operations and maintenance
    • Explain the basic properties of propane.
    • Determine LP-gas pipe sizing for given appliances.
    • Determine required separation distances for LP-gas containers and cylinders from property and other equipment.

Help ensure all workers involved in the transportation, handling, and storage of flammable and combustible liquids and liquid petroleum gas have the training to improve safety and avoid fires and explosions.
