Help ensure safer job sites and occupancies and maintain compliance with critical fire safety requirements and earn your Silver Badge from NFPA®.

If you are a building owner, contractor, or anyone who plays a role in protecting lives and property during construction, alteration, and demolition operations, you must have an understanding of and ability to apply applicable safety criteria. NFPA 241, Safeguarding Construction, Alteration, and Demolition Operations Online Training offers expert instruction on reducing accidents, injuries, and damage and eliminating liabilities that come with non-compliance.

This 3-hour course focuses on helping protect against fire hazards and related risks unique to the construction phase.

The time period in which a building is under construction, alteration, or demolition presents various fire-related dangers that are separate and distinct from when a structure is completed. From the absence of installed fire protection equipment to access challenges for fire personnel, there are vulnerabilities particular to these job sites.

This specialized course teaches how to locate, interpret, and accurately identify and utilize criteria in the 2019 edition of NFPA 241, Standard for Safeguarding Construction, Alteration, and Demolition Operations. Course work covers everything from the importance of the standard in preventing or minimizing fire damage to structures to fire safety programs and safeguarding construction equipment, storage, roofing, demolition, underground operations, and hazards such as utilities and hot work.

Increase your knowledge of vital safety requirements with intuitive and engaging online training.

Our web-based courses let you work at your own pace from the convenience of your desktop computer or laptop. Content is based on NFPA 241 (2019) requirements and developed by the experts who help write the codes and standards.

Upon completion, you should be able to:

    • Identify the scope and purpose of NFPA 241
    • Identify where the requirements of NFPA 241 apply
    • Identify who is responsible for the Fire Safety Program and their responsibilities
    • Identify the components of a fire safety program

Get the knowledge to help ensure construction sites adhere to the latest safety provisions.

Many of the model codes (e.g., International Fire Code, NFPA 1, and NFPA 101®) require compliance with NFPA 241 for buildings under construction, alteration, or demolition. Help ensure facilities are adequately protected by completing NFPA 241, Safeguarding Construction, Alteration, and Demolition Operations Online Training.
