Creating an effective and efficient fire pump system is dependent on knowing how to determine the best layout and being able to apply criteria for components and their appropriate location in an assembly.
The 2022 NFPA 20, Stationary Fire Pumps – System Layout Online Training course helps provide an understanding of how turbulent and unbalanced flows impact fire pumps. The course also offers instruction on how to correctly position fittings with regard to the fire pump and the role of pressure maintenance pumps in the system.
Upon completion, you should be able to:
- Determine the impact of fire pump suction and discharge on its layout
- Apply pressure maintenance requirements
- Determine appropriate test arrangements
- Determine the need for a bypass
- Determine the appropriate location for the fire department connection
- Determine the appropriate arrangement of pressure sensing lines
