    When added to water in proper quantities, water additives are agents that suppress, cool, mitigate fire and/or vapors and/or provide insulating properties for fuels exposed to radiant heat or direct flame impingement.

    Extensively revised, this edition of NFPA 18A includes:

    • Major technical changes, including a new chapter addressing Class C fire test methods to provide the fire service with safe limits for fire attack on energized electrical equipment
    • Editorial changes, such as an updated structure for consistency with other NFPA codes and standards
