    2012 Edition

As industrial fire brigade members face new challenges, NFPA 1081 helps ensure they are prepared and respond to facility incidents safely and effectively.

Revised to reflect the needs of today's industrial fire response personnel, NFPA 1081: Standard for Industrial Fire Brigade Member Professional Qualifications updates the minimum job performance requirements necessary to perform the duties as a member of an organized industrial fire brigade providing services at a specific facility or site.

Critical additions to the 2012 NFPA 1081 include:

    • Establishing a timeframe for donning PPE and SCBA and activating PASS alarm devices. Industrial fire brigade personnel performing external or internal duties will now be required to don PPE and SCBA and activate Pass alarm devices within 120 seconds.
    • Qualifying Support Members to the industrial fire brigade. Chapter 9 provides a full range of challenging requirements for the Support Member position.
    • New definitions for PPE, interior structural fire fighting, emergency response operations, incipient state, RIC, and IMS, updated for consistency with the 2010 NFPA 600: Industrial Fire Brigades, the 2008 NFPA 1006: Technical Rescuer Professional Qualifications, and the 2008 NFPA 1561: Emergency Services Incident Management System.

Update now to make sure industrial fire brigade members and support members have the knowledge and skills required for all levels of industrial fire brigade operations. (Softbound, 34 pp., 2012).
