    From determining safe means of egress to requirements for the protection of vertical openings and hazardous areas, this training is a must-have for anyone responsible for building safety and compliance.

    Upon completion, you should be able to:

    • Explain classifications of occupancy, including NFPA 101 requirements relevant to new and existing buildings
    • Reference provisions for components of the building's means of egress, fire alarm and suppression systems, and other fire protection features
    • Calculate occupant load and establish capacity of individual means of egress components and the entire egress system
    • Define and apply the correct criteria for rehabilitation work categories
    • Determine requirements for high-rise buildings and special structures, building services, and operating features

    Based on the 2021 edition of the code, NFPA 101 LVT addresses the latest design approaches, construction materials and practices, industry challenges, and advancements in technologies.

    Important changes for 2021 NFPA 101 addressed include:

    • Revised sprinkler requirements for some existing high-rise buildings
    • New language for combustible artificial decorative vegetation, outdoor furniture, and combustible artificial decorative vegetation on roofs and near buildings
    • New requirements for energy storage systems
    • Updated information on vertical opening protection
    • New requirements for two-way radio communication enhancement systems
    • Added provisions requiring new bars and restaurants to be sprinklered

    NFPA  101®, Life Safety Code® (2021) Essentials LVT delivers an in-person classroom experience from the convenience of your home or office.

    Capitalize on the opportunity to practice Life Safety Code application in an intuitive digital format. This course brings high-impact learning to you, so you can benefit from the quality instruction you have come to expect from NFPA®, from your computer or internet-enabled device. The program takes place over five consecutive days, featuring two 2-hour sessions per day with a half-hour break in between. Monthly offerings alternate between morning and afternoon sessions to fit your schedule.

    NFPA 101 Essentials LVT classes are limited in size and optimized to engage you via a real-time online video conferencing platform. Participate in polling exercises and interactive discussions to increase your understanding of best practices for responding to challenges in particular types of buildings and facilities. You will work through realistic scenarios within the framework of a fully developed case study to help test your knowledge and skills.

  • Live Virtual Training Terms & Specifications

    Course Tuition: The course tuition is due and payable before starting class.

    Expiration: Participants will need to attend the training at the scheduled time of the class. The class will not be recorded. Participants will have access to the post-training assessment and course evaluation for 60 days.

    CEUs: You earn 0.1 continuing education unit (CEU) for each learning hour. To verify total numbers of CEUs for a course, please check the description tab. Upon successful completion of a course, participants will be able to download the CEUs certificate directly from the NFPA® Learning Portal. Please verify applicability with your professional board or organization.

    Specifications:

    Confirmation – You will receive a registration confirmation. Check it for accuracy!

    To access the training, go to My Profile, then to My Training, and then click on the link to the NFPA Training Portal.

    • Course materials will be available on the portal prior to the beginning of the training. It is recommended that you download and print the material before the start of the class.
    • Information on how to access the live event will be posted to the NFPA portal in the Information document, along with other information to help you prepare for the training.
    • On the day of training we recommend that you log in 15 minutes prior to the start of the session.

    • Refunds
      To receive a full refund for live virtual training, NFPA must receive written notification of your desire to cancel your registration via fax, mail, or email at least 7 business days prior to the start of the program. If notification is received fewer than 7 business days prior to the start of the program, you may transfer your registration to a program of equal or lesser value with availability or you may transfer your registration to another person; however, no refund will be made. If no notice is received, your registration fee will be forfeited. Multiple requests to transfer the same original registration may be subject to a 20% service fee.
    • Cancellation policy
      To receive a full refund if you cancel your registration, you must notify us in writing via fax, mail, or email at least 7 business days prior to the start of the training. The fax number and mailing address are located in the top right corner of this page. Or, submit your request online. If notification is received fewer than 7 business days in advance, you may transfer to a training of equal or lesser value or transfer your registration to another person. If no notice is received, your registration fee will be forfeited.
