Many issues affect whether egress capacity is sufficient, and this new Life Safety Code® self-guided online training course explains the five steps for calculating capacity, how to calculate occupant load, how to determine the number of means of egress, and other requirements necessary for NFPA 101 compliance. Interactive exercises, and job aids help reinforce learning and provide vital takeaways for use on the job. The one-hour course ends with an exam to test your knowledge.
Upon completion you should be able to:
- Determine occupant load
- Determine egress capacity for both individual means of egress components and the entire means of egress
- Determine requirements for minimum width, dead-end corridors, common path of travel, remoteness, accessible means of egress (including areas of refuge), travel distance, and exit discharge
