    NFPA®'s self-paced Electric/Hybrid/Fuel Cell Safety Course for Trucks, Buses, and Commercial Fleet Vehicles Online Training teach emergency responders how to safely deal with emergency situations involving electric, hybrid and fuel cell trucks, buses, commercial fleet and passenger vehicles. Earn an NFPA Certificate upon completion.

    Please Note: NFPA is now offering two EV/Hybrid online courses free of charge to the US Fire Service. It is recommended that you take the Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Safety for Emergency Responders Online Course first.

    It is predicted that 13.9 million electrified vehicles will be on the world's roadways within five years. To help emergency responders handle the unique challenges presented by this new technology, NFPA has developed the Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Safety for Emergency Responders Online Course, and the new Electric/Hybrid/Fuel Cell Safety Course for Trucks, Buses, and Commercial Fleet Vehicles. In approximately four hours, these two self-paced programs effectively train responders through engaging videos, animations, simulations, and review exercises. It is recommended that you take both courses to be fully prepared to handle any incident involving this new technology.

    The dynamic online curriculum covers high voltage vehicle and safety systems, basic electrical concepts, identification techniques for electric, hybrid and fuel cell vehicles, immobilization and power-down procedures, extrication challenges, recommended practices and tactics for dealing with vehicle and battery fires, incidents involving charging stations, and more. Highly-interactive modules are video and graphic intensive, and you can repeat any section on demand.

    Upon completion of five modules you should be able to:

    • Safely conduct emergency scene size-up and management
    • Identify an electric, hybrid and fuel cell truck, bus, fleet or passenger vehicle
    • Effectively immobilize the vehicle for scene safety
    • Disable the vehicle's High Voltage and SRS systems
    • Conduct occupant rescue more safely
    • Execute EV recovery and disposal

    A built-in learning management system lets you exit the program anytime and return where you left off, so you can maximize time and schedule training around professional demands. Demonstrate your proficiency in course content by completing a series of data reviews at the conclusion of each training module and final scenario room activities. Pass these reviews and earn your NFPA Certificate of Educational Achievement.

    This training application is only accessible to individuals within the United States. Customers residing outside the U.S. should not purchase this training, as they will not be able to view it.

    Terms:

    • Course Tuition: The course tuition is due and payable before starting each module.
    • Expiration: Participants will need to take the online courses or series within 180 days.
    • CEUs: You earn 0.1 CEU for each learning hour. To verify total numbers of CEUs for a course or a series, please check the Description tab. Upon successful completion of a course or a series, participants will be able to download the CEUs certificate directly from the website. Please verify applicability with your professional board or organization.
    • Online Training is non-refundable.
