    The 2-volume Fire Protection Handbook serves as the body of knowledge for the examination. The CFPS Primer, while not a test prep classroom training, does offer practical instruction that will help you quickly locate specific facts within the encyclopedic handbook. If you are serious about your career in fire protection, the CFPS credential serves as a distinguished mark of achievement within the profession.

    Fire Protection Handbook, 2008 Edition

    Continuing Education Credit:
    Earn 14 hours or 1.4 Continuing Education Units.
    Attendance is required to earn CEU's. Please verify applicability with your professional board or organization before attending.

    The CFPS examination is offered in pencil-and-paper format the day after the CFPS Primer. Pre-qualification is required to sit for the examination. For information on CFPS certification and to obtain a CFPS exam application, log onto nfpa.org/certification.


    Important Details:

    Price: includes two days of instruction, student workbook, applicable codes and standards, and a proctored exam (if applicable) – along with morning coffee and lunch each day.

    Price with the exam includes: $1,050 nonmember and $945 for a member for 2 days of training and an exam on the 3rd day. The exam cost of $350 is included. (NOTE: The registrant must complete an application and send it to the NFPA Certification Department 4 weeks prior to the exam date. Please see the certification page at www.nfpa.org/certification for an application.)

    Price without the exam: ($700 Nonmember and $630 member) for 2 days of training. The exam cost of $350 is not included and the registrant would have the option of signing up to take the exam at a later date at a computer-based testing location (see the certification page at www.nfpa.org/certification for an application).

    Note: If you wish to register for this course and certification exam, you must register a minimum of 4 weeks before the class date in order for NFPA to have time to order the examinations. 4 weeks before the class start, NFPA will remove the option to schedule the exam and you will only be able to register for the course after that time. If necessary, you may also contact the NFPA Certification team directly to schedule to take your certification exam at a later date.
