The CFI-I Classroom Training (with Optional Certification Exam) program is based on the job requirements found in Chapter 4 of NFPA 1031, Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Inspector and Plan Examiner, 2014 edition. This course will help the participants to perform their jobs, and along with additional study, assist them in preparing for the CFI-I certification examination.

The course will familiarize participants with:
- The responsibilities of a fire inspector and the knowledge required to perform the job

- The use and application of NFPA codes and standards
- Requirements for fire alarm and suppression systems
- Requirements associated with the storage, handling, and use of hazardous materials
- Requirements associated with the storage, handling, and use of flammable and combustible liquids and gases
The CFI-I Certification Exam is available as a computer-based exam at approved testing centers around the world or as a written proctored exam in conjunction with the CFI-I Classroom Training. Candidates may bring only published hardcopy books to the exam. Prequalification is required to sit for the examination. Price: includes four days of instruction, student workbook, applicable codes and standards, and a proctored exam (if applicable).
Price with the exam: includes four days of training and an exam on the fifth day. The exam cost is included. (NOTE: The registrant must complete an application and send it to the NFPA Certification Department 30 days prior to the exam date. Please see the certification page at www.nfpa.org/certification for an application.)
Price without the exam: includes four days of training. The exam cost of $350 is not included and the registrant would have the option of signing up to take the exam at a later date at a computer-based testing location (see the certification page at nfpa.org/certification for an application).
