The CFPE Site Plan Review Online Training goes through each of the pieces that you need to consider when reviewing a site plan.

This course provides an overview of select requisite knowledge found in the five major domains and job performance requirements in NFPA 1031, Standard for Professional Qualifications Fire Inspector and Fire Plan Examiner. Specifically, you will learn about the methods and calculations used to determine required fire flow, as well as how to evaluate water supplies to determine if the correct fire flow is provided. This module will also provide knowledge to help you evaluate hydrant location and spacing compliance. The second part of this module offers a review of the process by which you can study plans for emergency site and building access.

Using an online version of a magnifying glass, you can examine site plan examples and code documents to identify sections critical to emergency access and determining code compliance.

CFPE Site Plan Review Online Training reviews fire flow and the water supply testing process as well as site plan review for emergency access. Participants will learn how to describe fire flow as well as the steps taken to test water supply. They’ll also learn about the calculations used to test flow and how to interpret test results. When discussing site plan review for emergency access, participants will also review site plans and components as they relate to emergency and building access. They will have the opportunity to use site plans as well as code documents to demonstrate their ability to meet the objectives.

Upon completion you should be able to:

    • Identify the types of water distribution systems
    • Explain factors that affect friction loss when calculating fire flow
    • Explain the computation method used to calculate sprinkler fire flow
