CMS is surveying to the 2012 edition of NFPA 101, and this new training series covers some of the most important requirements facility managers need to interpret correctly to protect patients and staff. - Describe Code applicability for new and existing occupancies
- Define and distinguish occupancy classifications
- Determine allowable construction types for specific health care occupancies
- Determine hazards of contents, stories in height, and building construction types
- Define the three parts of means of egress
- Identify and apply the requirements for fire barriers
- Determine requirements for separation and protection of exits
- Identify allowable components of the means of egress in health care occupancies
- Apply the correct health care-specific provisions for doors, including locking arrangements
- Identify requirements for stairs, handrails and guards, smokeproof enclosures, horizontal exits, ramps, and exit passageways
